Stephen was our very first student. We were still creating many of the things we have in place now, building the infrastructure of the organisation and finding out what's needed by our students.

It was Stephen's interest in building apps that prompted us to bring in John Murray, a mobile app and web developer. John taught Stephen to build production-ready and then profitable apps.

We use three of these apps to run the charity today!

And Stephen sells access to his proprietary software on a monthly basis, which he splits 50/50 with Autism Pathways Academy!

WHY ARE THE COURSES FREE?

When we established the Autism Pathways Academy we wanted all autistic people who want to be involved, to have an equal chance of learning these skills and have access to the amazing opportunities they bring. So we raise the money independently through our local lotteries. We are currently exploring ways to expand the amount of places on the courses because demand is so high.

WHO TEACHES THE COURSES?

Great question. We're very lucky to have some vastly experienced and skilled people amongst our founding members (all parents and family members of autistic people) so we started with teaching the things we know and over time we've reached out to industry leaders from different spaces and persuaded them to share their knowledge and expertise with our students. These courses are put together and delivered by proven winners. It's more than just theory!

HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM OTHER COLLEGES & ACADEMIES?

Our courses are created and delivered by industry experts who've been successful using the exact methods they teach in the courses. At school and university the business classes are more often than not taught by 'career educators' - meaning they've never actually done the things they're teaching. It's all theoretical and often times it's irrelevant and outdated.

WHAT SORT OF THINGS WILL I LEARN?

When you start off in any business you need the first steps to making money as quickly as possible, preferably whilst still learning! So everything we do has been structured to move you quickly to the stages that matter. You don't need to learn how to brand and market a fizzy drinks company - you need to learn how to set up a payment processor, run ads to your offer and get social media engagement.You'll learn what you need to, when you need to know it.
